Sydenham Hill Wood: located possible Northern Long-Tailed Tit 10.30-11.30 several times & easy to pick out with all white head. Under parts whiter than other birds in flock tho still with pink wash. Have never seen ssp caudatus before and as per below this bird does not give the frosty appearance seen in many photos - still a good candidate though & the Advance Bird Guide has variations that would seem to cover this bird - any other takers? Sydenham Hill Woods: Firecrest by the disused railway track (post number 6), Redwing, Nuthatch, Coal Tit, several Long-tailed Tits about but no sign of the white-headed bird (Conrad Ellam) I visited the wood at about 2.30pm & re-found the "white headed bird", from the Crescent Wood Road entrance take the right hand path and it was in the clearing below the steps roughly the same place as yesterday. Good views, maybe not a totally pure white head but definitely white and clearly defined with a black collar I managed two photos both with its back to me! I am hoping that someone else sees it soon. I am not 100% on this I posted this sighting in the hope that someone else could find it and give a second opinion. I did get some photos on my phone but they are pretty bad. Hopefully this milder air can allow some insects to venture out?! No Whitethroat, or Stonechat, seen this afternoon. A Whitethroat was seen on Monday. Flew into the scrub for a while, and then to the corner of the allotments next to Bywaters' entrance (JWD) In 2012 the Whitethroat left the island once scrub was cleared the next one I saw in Sidmouth Park leyton in January 2013 during the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch (SF) I wonder if itss the same bird?

Forty Hall, Enfield: I had a glimpse of a large brown bird with a white tail in the fields on the other side of Turkey Brook from the cycle path At the time I thought it looked like a Buzzard but I dismissed the idea because of the white tail subsequently it occurred to me that it might have been a species of which I have no prior experience i.e. it was a probable Rough-legged Buzzard (James Palmer); Rough-legs have a terminal tail-band either diffuse grey [juv] or distinct black [ad] & look longer-winged & longer-tailed
