Very rare visitor in England away from the Lake District where one pair formerly bred.
Accepted records (1)[]
- 1859: Barnet (Middx), one seen flying in the neighbourhood of Barnet (Birds of Middlesex, Harting 1866)
Harting reports that the observer was "well aquainted with the bird" and after hearing that one was captured in Kent the following week he conjectured that it was the same bird. However, the latter record was not accepted by the Kent Records Committee (despite the presence of the specimen) so any link between these two records is rather tenuous.
