A rare vagrant to the UK, predominantly during severe cold weather on the continent. Although this species is included on the London list the only record appears to be unsubstantiated as well being a few miles outside of the London Area.
Records[]
- 1899: Hatfield Broad Oak: one on October 31st during frosty weather (Birds of Essex, Wood 2007)
This record is listed by Christy (1903) as being unsubstantiated.
Comment[]
Further research is required to see if there are any other pre-1900 records of this species in the London Area. None are given in Harting's Birds of Middlesex.
