Revision as of 15:30, 13 August 2019

Reports posted here can be added to the LNHS database for use in the London Bird Report. To make yours eligible, please send your email address to the London Bird Club Data Manager so you can be contacted if a problem arises. A scalable map of the London recording area can be found here. Please follow our standard format to assist automatic compilation of records into the database. (Note: there are some minor changes for records from 2019 onwards.)

Please list sightings alphabetically by site. Only report sightings of wide interest rather than listing all common birds (the latter may be recorded on the General sightings page). DO NOT post details of nesting by scarce breeding birds (those included in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, as amended). Any such reports will be removed; please submit them instead to the appropriate LNHS bird recorder.

  • Vicarage Farm: Whinchat (via BirdTrack) I don't know who is adding these records from BirdTrack, but I would prefer records from this site not to be added to this website, as the site is private. - R Callf RC - No problem but NB the records were posted here in good faith, as on BirdTrack this private site is presently indistinguishable from public ones. Then one should not assume that the sites have public access - R Callf RC - Nonsense. In fact, the onus is on the BirdTrack contributor to flag as Sensitive those records they don't want publicised. Problem solved - at least for any Vicarage Farm records you've added. Anon - I am a regular contributor to this website - if I wanted my records to be publicised here I would post them myself. There is no onus on me to do anything I volunteer the information. In any case you flag sensitive records to conceal rare breeding species not to 'cover' private sites - R Callf RC - Had you done me the courtesy of reading and understanding the webpage I linked earlier [above] you would have realised that Sensitive does cover private sites like yours. Please be reasonable. These sightings appeared on BirdTrack publicly and anonymously (!) so NB if you don't do anything your BirdTrack posts could appear here again, through blind inadvertence. [And since you wasted my time by not 'following' the link I gave you, my part in this discussion ends here.]
