Rules for Inclusion
- 1. All records must be accepted by BBRC or LNHS Rarities Committee
- 2. Recent additions not yet accepted by the BBRC/LNHS can be counted provided they had multiple observers
- 3. Only BOU species count - see LondonList - total 373 species (including Dark-eyed Junco)
- 4. UK400 club splits do not count
- 5. Escapes/feral birds and all Ruddy Shelducks do not count. All free-flying Red-crested Pochard and Barnacle Geese count as they've reached Category C status.
- 6. All species must be recorded in the LNHS Recording Area - 20 miles from St Paul's Cathedral
- 7. All species must be personally seen or heard (recordings from web cams or noc-mic devices do not count)
- 8. Birds that were trapped and ringed may be counted providing they were released close to where they were caught
- 9. Birds taken into care and later released do not count unless they are still present the day after release
- 10. An individual of a reintroduced indigenous species may be counted if it is part of a population that has successfully hatched young in the wild or when it is not possible to reasonably separate the reintroduced individual from a wild-born individual (in practice this means Isle of Wight White-tailed Eagles are not countable until they start breeding)
