STONEYFIELDS PARK is a three hectare (7.5 acre) public park on the border of Edgware and Mill Hill in the London Borough of Barnet, in north-west London. Deans Brook flows through the park and has been dammed to create an ornamental lake with a fringe of vegetation that attracts wildfowl. The park is a Site of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade II.

Habitat[]
The park is a mainly grassland area with a small wood and hedgerows. Deans Brook, which flows through the park from north to south, has been dammed to create an ornamental lake, which has a fringe of vegetation dominated by great and lesser reed mace. The woodland of oak and hazel is clearly old, as are some of the hedges, and there are plants indicative of ancient woodland, such as wood sedge. Parts of the grassland are herb rich, with wild flowers such as cuckooflower.

BIRDS Coot, Moorhen, Mallard and Mute Swan breed around the lake. Further information needed, please.

Practicalities[]
DIRECTIONS The main entrance to the park is on Fairmeads Crescent, where kerbside parking is available.There are also two entrances from Riverdene and one from Edgware Way. Bus routes 113 and 186 pass the site on Edgware Way. (There are several bus stops on Edgware Way but the appropriate stop is the one that is just called “Edgware Way”.)
ACCESS The park is open from 8am until dusk.
FACILITIES There are no public facilities at the site. The nearest local shops are in Glengall Road or at Apex Corner (Northway Circus).
